Romania secures spot in main round of U20 European Handball Championship
Romania's U20 handball team achieved a significant victory over Israel, winning 39-31 on July 11, 2026. This win was crucial as the team needed to secure a margin of at least seven goals to advance in the tournament.
The match took place in Cluj-Napoca at the Sala Sporturilor 'Horia Demian', where Romania initially had a narrow lead of just one goal at halftime. Under the guidance of coach Bogdan Șoldănescu, the team demonstrated resilience and skill throughout the game.
Key players made impressive contributions, with Emanuel Șerban and Teodor Iluca each scoring 8 goals.
