Romania is set to play a pivotal role in NATO's ambitious Deep Precision Strike program, a $50 billion initiative aimed at developing long-range missiles. This significant achievement comes as one of the key outcomes from the recent NATO Summit in Ankara.

The Deep Precision Strike program, led by the United Kingdom, includes 11 NATO allies, with Romania actively participating. The countries involved are tasked with creating missiles capable of striking targets at great distances, specifically between 300 and 2000 kilometers.

Among the missile types being developed are cruise missiles, including the renowned Tomahawk, as well as hypersonic and ground-launched long-range missiles. The collaborative nature of the program means that participating countries have agreed to make joint purchases, enhancing efficiency and unity within the alliance.

Radu Miruță, the interim Minister of Defense, has expressed optimism about the initiative. It is estimated that tangible results from the Deep Precision Strike program will begin to emerge by 2030, marking a significant step forward in defense capabilities for Romania and its NATO partners.
