Miriam Bulgaru has marked a significant milestone in her tennis career by securing her first victory in six months. She triumphed over Danka Kovinic with a score of 6-4, 6-3 during their match on Tuesday, in the first round of the WTA 125 tournament in Brescia.

This win not only ends a challenging streak of 11 consecutive losses for Bulgaru but also brings her a prize of 1,740 euros and 15 valuable WTA points. The match lasted for one hour and 37 minutes, showcasing her resilience and determination on the court.

At 27 years old, Miriam is currently ranked 258 in the WTA standings, while her opponent Danka Kovinic, aged 31, holds the 994th position. This was the first time the two players faced each other, and Bulgaru's victory sets a positive tone for her upcoming matches.

Looking ahead, Bulgaru is set to compete against Ane Mintegi Del Olmo, who is 22 years old and ranked 280 in the WTA. In another highlight from the tournament, Elena Ruxandra Bertea faced a tough match against Jennifer Ruggeri, ultimately losing 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 after 1 hour and 45 minutes of play.

On the doubles side, the duo of Irina Bara and Naima Karamoko has advanced to the quarter-finals with a strong performance, defeating Hiroko Kuwata from Japan and Lian Tran from the Netherlands with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
