Iulian Chirița and Anna Hursey shine at European Table Tennis Championships

Iulian Chirița and Anna Hursey have made waves at the European Table Tennis Championships for players under 21, held in Cluj-Napoca, by clinching the gold medal in the mixed doubles final. They triumphed over their German opponents, Wim Verdonschot and Josephina Neumann, with a score of 3-1, showcasing their skill and teamwork.

The championships also saw Andrei Istrate earn a bronze medal in the men's doubles category alongside his partner Nicole Arlia. Although they faced a tough battle in the semifinals, their earlier performances secured them a place on the podium.

In addition to the mixed doubles success, the Romanian contingent had a strong showing in individual competitions. All three Romanian players in the men's singles category won their second group stage matches with maximum points, demonstrating their competitive edge. Darius Movileanu made it to the semifinals, while Andrei Istrate was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Bianca Mei-Roșu emerged victorious in the quarter-finals of the women's singles and secured her spot in the semifinals, continuing the positive momentum for the Romanian team. Meanwhile, her compatriots Bianca Mei-Roșu and Veronika Matiunina from Ukraine advanced to the women's doubles final, further highlighting the promising talent in Romanian table tennis.
