Greece seeks to boost investments in Bihor, enhancing economic ties with Romania
Greece is eager to expand its investments in Bihor, focusing on key sectors such as infrastructure, construction, and energy. This initiative highlights the growing economic partnership between Romania and Greece, aimed at fostering development opportunities.
The discussions took place at the headquarters of the Prefect Institution in Bihor, where Lili Evangelia Grammatika, the Greek Ambassador to Romania, presented significant Greek investments in the country. Alongside prefect Marcel Dragoș, they explored the various potential for economic collaboration, emphasizing the region's natural resources and its multicultural character.
Greek Minister for Public Diplomacy Nikolaos Vlahakis also participated in the meeting, addressing common challenges such as security and migration. The dialogue included the exchange of best practices, focusing on digitalization, public-private partnerships, and tax legislation, which are essential for sustainable growth.
The prefect highlighted Bihor's strategic location at the Hungarian border as a key asset, underlining the importance of projects like the modernization of road and rail infrastructure and the development of the Oradea Airport. European funds are crucial in transforming Bihor into a more connected and prosperous region.
Ambassador Grammatika expressed support for Romania's accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, reinforcing the strong ties between the two nations. As a sign of goodwill, the Greek Ambassador was invited to leave a message in the institution's Book of Honor, marking a promising step towards deeper collaboration.
