CMSR Young empowers young dentists in Romania

30 Jun 2026, 15:31

The Colegiul Medicilor Stomatologi din Romania (CMSR) has launched CMSR Young, a national platform designed specifically for dental students and dentists under the age of 35. This initiative aims to foster a vibrant community among young professionals in the field of dentistry.

In Romania, the number of dentists has surged by 50% over the past decade, reflecting a growing interest in dental medicine. Remarkably, Romania boasts the highest rate of dental graduates in the European Union, with 14.5% of all dental graduates trained in the country. As a result, by 2026, there will be one dentist for every 735 residents in Romania, significantly better than the European average of one dentist per 1,230 residents.

Dr. Florin Lazarescu, the president of CMSR, emphasizes the importance of nurturing young talent in the dental profession. CMSR Young will not only create opportunities for professional growth but also organize events like the National Conference 'The Future is Young', scheduled for July 3. This conference aims to inspire and connect the next generation of dentists.

As Romania's population stands at approximately 18 million, which is less than 4% of the EU's total, the demand for dental professionals is projected to increase. By 2036, Romania is expected to have one dentist for every 580 residents, approaching the necessary average of one per 940-1,120 residents. CMSR Young is positioned to play a crucial role in meeting this demand and ensuring a bright future for dental health in the country.
