In a thrilling conclusion to the Best Electric Car România competition, the BMW iX3 emerged as the standout champion. This year's event, organized by AutoExpert Media, showcased eight impressive electric models, with the iX3 proving to be the most complete package among its competitors.

The competition, now in its sixth edition, took place with the support of key partners including Arval as the main partner and Eldrive for charging solutions. The exciting two-day test drive covered approximately 700 kilometers on the route from Bucharest to Cap Aurora, offering participants a firsthand experience of each vehicle's capabilities.

The BMW iX3 xDrive50, featuring a robust 469 horsepower and an impressive battery capacity of 108.7 kWh, delivered a real-world consumption of 20.3 kWh per 100 km and a calculated real-world range of around 534 km. This performance was complemented by a WLTP range that can reach up to 805 km. Priced at 82,135 euros for the tested model, its cost is a consideration, albeit one that reflects its comprehensive offerings.

Among the other finalists, the MG4 Urban was recognized for its value, while the Mercedes-Benz CLA EQ impressed with its efficiency and the Volvo ES90 stood out for comfort. The Zeekr 7X brought immense power, but it was the BMW iX3 that managed to harmonize all these features into a coherent package.

Design-wise, the BMW iX3 has sparked conversation with its polarizing aesthetics, combining a sleek, approachable look with subtle nods to classic BMW models. Its interior boasts the best infotainment system among the finalists, with a digital ventilation system and a central Panoramic iDrive interface that enhances the driving experience.

While the BMW iX3 was not the champion of consumption—an accolade that went to the MG4 Urban—it compensated with its large battery and excellent real-world range. Despite some minor downsides, including its price, design, and steering feel, the iX3's overall performance, technology, comfort, and driving experience reaffirm its place in BMW's new era of electric vehicles.

The event culminated at Mera Resort Cap Aurora, where the electric models were exhibited at Bucharest Mall, making for a comprehensive experience for all involved. As BMW embarks on this new direction, the iX3 exemplifies a significant shift not only in design but also in the overall driving experience.
